Rain, Rain, Go Away...
Nothing like being caught in a portable classroom all the way at the back of the school with twenty first graders during a rain storm. We are so far back we do not have the luxery of covered walkways or nearby bathrooms. Of course, once the rain started, EVERYONE just HAD to go to the bathroom. What a mess!
Anyway, on to more important things...like the party. I realize that most of you who read this were actually there, but I'm writing about it anyway.
My day of pampering started at 10 am with my "manny/peddy." My sister came along for one also. Then we rushed off to my hairdesser's for a cut and style. Little sister, thoughtful girl that she is, prearranged for some champagne while my hair was being done. The end result - which is the magic of Cathie - was a beautiful 'do fit for the red carpet (which we will get to later). Then we had a quick lunch and went to get my face painted.
My sister came along for this as well. She went to the more conservative Clinique counter, while I went to MAC. I was worked on by a guy named Keath (his spelling, not mine) who had spiked up hair, tatoos all over his body, and thise earrings that stretch your holes out into big circles (sorry, don't know the correct name for said jewelry). My sister asked me later if I was scared, to which i replied, "No - at the MAC counter I would be afraid if they DIDN'T look like that!" Anyway, Keath was FANTASTIC and gave me "smokey eyes and dramatic lips." Loved him.
Just a few hours left before the party...
Ok, when I drove up to this affair, I see a red carpet out front, a red lightbulb in the porch light, and these cool lanterns (created by Holly) that spelled out RED'S, which, if you remember, was the theme of the party - Red's Cocktail Lounge.
As I walked inside, I am amazed at all of the work that Holly and Claire put in. There was red everywhere - all the lights were red, there was red tulle draped across the ceiling along with streamers all over the place. There was a revolving multicolored disco ball thing suspended from the ceiling. There was a bar, equipped with the best bartender in the world - Matthew. The food was phenomenal. The bathroom had a tray with hairspray, cheap cologne, condoms - all kinds of stuff (I believe BOTH condoms disappeared by the end of the night, hmmmmm...)
There were pictures of me from all stages of my life framed all over the house (thank you Holly.) There was a collage of pictures that everyone signed for me. And I won't talk about the HUGE picture that was blown up and put outside (I know, I know - always do it if it is funny).
There is so much more to tell, but I am running out of time. End result - I am a very lucky girl to have such wonderful friends. Thanks you guys!
