Happy New Year!
Ah, the joy of being back at work. As I pulled into the parking lot at 7 am this morning, I realized that I have misplaced the keys to my classroom. (Notice I say misplaced rather than lost, which has a certain finality to it - trying to stay positive.) This is a problem seeing as I signed a contract htat I would NOT lose these keys, but that on the small chance I did I would pay $500 to replace the locks. Hmmmm...better get looking.
I couldn't sleep at all last night, was still up past 2am. I think I was worrying about getting up at 5:30 and being ready for the kids. No worries, they are in worse shape than I am. Upon entering the room this morning, one little girl came up to me and said, "I can't find my chair." I happened to be standing right in front of her desk and immediately saw the problem. "Well, Sweetie," I said, trying not to laugh,"that's because it is still on top of your desk." I knew then that this would be a chill day - we are all too messed up to accomplish much.
Have had a little bit of the holiday blues lately. This morning my students are writing about 4 things they did over vacation. Two of the kids so far have written "I missed my teacher very, very, very much." My spirits are lifted...feeling groovy.
